Classical Music Series at Mimosa Hall Presents: Ann Marie McPhail, Soprano

Ann Marie McPhail is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and is a doctoral candidate in Voice Performance and Pedagogy from The University of Southern Mississippi.

Her credits include: Tyler Perry’s movie For Colored Girls and honorable mention in Opera News for her portrayal of Strawberry Woman in Gershwin’s, Porgy and Bess with the Atlanta Opera. She is a past winner of the Madame Rose, Pro-Mozart Society of Atlanta, and the American Traditions Competitions.

In 2020, she was a featured soloist at the Atlanta Ballet’s premiere of “Sunrise Divine” by renowned choreographer Dwight Rhoden and in 2022, worked extensively in Vienna, Austria with her coach and mentor, Grace Bumbry.

Ms. McPhail has served as lecturer at several colleges and universities. She has sung with the San Francisco Opera, Paris Comique Opera, Atlanta Opera, Houston Ebony Opera, Opera Ebony (NY) , Macon Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Chamber Players, and is honored to once more perform on stage with the Savannah Philharmonic Orchestra.

While she excels in singing classical music, she is also supremely skillful in her heart-rending interpretations of the negro spiritual.
