About the site:

We are grateful to The Platt Family and Law Firm for sharing their beautiful home with us for this event. Please read the history of this Roswell historic gem below.

According to the Roswell Historical Society, the Dolvin House at 138 Bulloch Ave. was built in the 1880s as a saltbox-style house by J.M. Penland, a store owner.

It was home to Emily Dolvin, who resided there for most of her life after her marriage to William Jasper Dolvin in 1938.

Mrs. Dolvin was “active in civic organizations and projects throughout her life, she is best known as President Jimmy Carter’s ‘Aunt Sissy’.”

Dolvin hosted campaign events for Carter at the residence.is often referred to as “President Jimmy Carter’s Roswell White House”.

The Carters were friendly with The Hansell Family who were the homeowners of Mimosa Hall directly across the street!

Since being built, the home has seen the addition of porches, added in 1905, which gave the house a Victorian style that it presently retains. The house was modified again in the 1990’s.

Its most recent transformation was under the direction of Rachel and Ryan Goodman, who purchased the home in 2016. The majority of changes occurred on the inside.

The Dolvin House now serves as the base for The Platt Law Firm
