Roswell Arts Fund, Friends of Mimosa Hall & Gardens, and Steve's Live Music are pleased to present a performance featuring Finnish guitarist Olli Soikkeli and Italian-Brazilian 7-string guitarist Cesar Garabini.
The duo offers up an exquisite duet paring swinging Django Reinhardt-style gypsy jazz guitar and spicy choro style jazz guitar. Gypsy Jazz is a blend of traditional Romani music and swing jazz that originated in Paris, France in the early 1930s. It was first popularized by the Quintette du Hot Club de France
“Gypsy Jazz became an international musical dialect long ago. Olli Soikkeli, one of the most adept and resourceful contemporary guitarists in that still potent idiom, hails from Finland.”– The New Yorker
“Olli Soikkeli, a riveting Finnish guitarist who combines astonishing dexterity and speed with pure soul in a way that places him among the worthiest current day successors to the legacy of the great Django.” - The Wall Street Journal
